Nguyên Lê's "Saiyuki" at GlobalFEST: A Jazz-World Mashup with an Eastern Bent
In January New York City hosted GlobalFEST, a one-night world music extravaganza. We dip in on Vietnamese jazz guitarist Nguyen Le and his new aggregate, Saiyuki. While Le and Indian tabla player Prabhu Edouard displayed great chemistry and inventiveness, it was Mieko Miyazaki of Japan playing koto who really knocked the crowd out.
