World Music: Nortec Collective, "Polaris"
(Mexico) The Nortec Collective is made up of the Tijuana Deejays Bostich, Clorofila, Fussible, Hiperboreal and Panoptica who have been putting traditional Mexican Brass Band and Norteno sounds into a blender with cool electronica and coming up with some major Tequila smoothies. "Polaris" references Banda music, the popular brass driven music of Mexico. In addition the Collective comprises artist and graphic designers who handle the visual side of the Nortec Shows. The video itself is made for projection onto a large screen in a club while the music pumps and throbs - so the images, colors and shapes are handled in an abstract manner.
