(Brazil) This performance by Gil was staged for the Red Hot Organization, a group dedicated to fighting AIDS by raising money through pop culture projects. "Red Hot and Rio" is one of their best selling ventures, and Gil has donated a charismatic performance (as usual) of the title track of his hit CD "Refazenda." The CD is a homage to rural life, and this song, which uses fruits and vegetables as metaphors for rebirth, ("refazenda" is itself a pun on "starting over" and "farm") is a perfect contribution towards the Organizations' cause.
