Seeking Justice: Sexual Violence in the DRC

Sexual violence is the hallmark of conflict in Eastern Congo. Some women seek medical help for their injuries, but very few go further and demand justice for their attackers' crimes, for fear of stigmatization. The UN is implementing projects in Congo that protect women and children from rape and other forms of sexual violence, including appointing women as protection officers.
