World Music: Aly Bain and Ale Möller, "The Newly Rigged Ship"
(Shetland Islands/Sweden) There have been many musical comings and goings between Norsemen and Celts - "The Fully Rigged Ship" is a sailing tune from the Shetland Islands whose roots can be traced to a traditional Nordic air. Aly Bain, considered one of the grand masters of Celtic fiddle, is one of the founders of Boys of the Lough, a band that laid the foundations for the Celtic revival (there were revivals of folk music everywhere from the late sixties through the seventies, arising from political conditions in some countries, and due to population demographics in others). Grooving along with Aly Bain is the ubiquitous (and clearly delighted) multi-instrumentalist Alle Möller from Sweden, demonstrating his musical pliability, as usual.
