(DR Congo) This video is one by three finalists in the World Bank Institute and Jeunesse Musicales International competition, "Fair Play Anti-Corruption Youth Voices." Katya Emmanuel is part of the hip hop collective "Hip Hop Artivists" based in Goma, Democratic Republic of Congo. The band says of their video, "The history of DR Congo has been one of civil war and corruption, this video is the first that (deals with) illegal mining in Congo ...that children down to the age of 12 work in the mine and that illegal mines like this are financing the ongoing war in the region. (We are) denouncing impunity; corruption in all its forms and its devastating impacts on individuals, families, and communities."
