Widespread Allegations of Rape in Kyrgyzstan

(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: June 18, 2010) The United Nations says that up to one million people in Kyrgyzstan may be in need of aid following the outbreak of ethnic violence. The death toll may be as high as two thousand, and allegations of rape have also been reported. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has once again called on Israel to lift its blockade of Gaza, and is holding talks with U.S. envoy George Mitchell. Thousands of Iraqis who have escaped fighting in the country are still living in temporary camps in difficult conditions. The head of the IMF says that Spain is taking the right steps for economic recovery by going forward with austerity measures.
