Maliki Says Iraq Ready to Provide Its Own Security

(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: August 31, 2010) Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki says his country is ready to take over its own security as U.S. troops end their combat mission in Iraq. Direct peace talks between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas are planned for Thursday in Washington. Victims of the Pakistani floods continue to suffer in refugee camps, complaining that they are not being provided with enough food. With public transportation operating at capacity, many young Bangladeshis have taken to riding on the roofs of crowded trains.
