Tapes Show Pakistan Executions and Niger Hostages
(Al Jazeera English News Headlines: October 1, 2010)
Troops have stormed a hospital in Ecuador to rescue the country's president, Rafael Correa, who'd been trapped inside in an attack by renegade police angry about proposed austerity measures. Pakistan is denying claims that its military executed six young men. Grainy video footages shows uniformed soldiers rounding up and shooting the men in the Swat Valley. Another tape has been released showing a group of hostages kidnapped in Niger in September. The North Africa wing of Al Qaeda is claiming responsibility.
