(Al Jazeera English Headlines: February 11, 2011) Egypt's president Hosni Mubarak has stepped down after 18 days of mass protests across the country. Hundreds of thousands of Egyptians took to the streets demanding an end to his 30-year rule. A military council has been named to run the country's affairs until elections can be held. Newly appointed Vice President Omar Suleiman made the announcement on state television.
