Salome Chasnoff

Bio:
Salome Chasnoff is an award-winning filmmaker and installation artist and the Founding Executive Director of Beyondmedia Education, a 10-year-old Chicago-based media arts nonprofit organization whose mission is to collaborate with under-served and under-represented women, youth and communities to tell their stories, connect their stories to the world around us, and organize for social justice through the creation and distribution of media arts. She has produced more than 25 short works and two feature films, several focused on the stories of marginalized women and girls. She has screened her work in more than 70 festivals and on television. Chasnoff has an M.A. in Theatre and Performance and a Ph.D. in Performance Studies from Northwestern University, and she has been an arts educator for more than 25 years. Chasnoff was recently named winner of the Ida B. Wells Award for Bravery in Journalism and one of the 21 Leaders for the 21st Century in an international competition conducted by Women's eNews.
