Film Description

The Water Pressures Documentary uses the power of media to highlight collaborative water management projects in the deserts of India. In the Thar Desert of Rajasthan, local rainfall is just two inches per year, and the average individual uses only 4 liters of water a day. Impoverished communities there have learned to capture rainwater by partnering with a local non-government agency, the Jal Bhagirathi Foundation, and international funders. Now, women and young girls no longer walk eight miles a day to fetch water. Instead, with access to nearby wells, girls in these communities are able to stay in school.
