Harvest of Empire

Harvest of Empire

A powerful documentary that exposes the direct connection between the long history of U.S. intervention in Latin America and the immigration crisis we face today. From the territorial expansionist policies that decimated the young economies of Mexico, Puerto Rico and Cuba, to the covert operations that imposed oppressive military regimes in the Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Nicaragua and El Salvador, "Harvest of Empire" provides an unflinching look at the origins of the growing Latino presence in the United States.

5 Broken Cameras

5 Broken Cameras

“5 Broken Cameras” is a deeply personal, first-hand account of life and non-violent resistance in Bil’in, a West Bank village surrounded by Israeli settlements. Shot by Palestinian farmer Emad Burnat, who bought his first camera in 2005 to record the birth of his youngest son, Gibreel, the film was co-directed by Burnat and Guy Davidi, an Israeli filmmaker. Structured in chapters around the destruction of each one of Burnat’s cameras, the filmmakers’ collaboration follows one family’s evolution over six years of village upheaval.

Dirty Gold War

Dirty Gold War

A fable about the gold industry, an excursion behind the scenes of this very prosperous sector. On one end of the spectrum, there are the sparkling displays in jewellery shop windows and the luxury industry itself, on the other end there is the condition of those damned by dirty gold, from the Indians to the activists who fight against this murky cartel. A film that transforms the viewer's perspective about this business and makes a contribution to the necessary discussion in favour of more ethically responsible gold.

Revolution Green

Revolution Green is about one man's vision to manufacture biodiesel and one man's quest to use it in his big rig; it's about the American dream and how renewable energy is critical to the future of the world economy. Centered on a husband and wife from Maui, Hawaii; the film documents how in 1996, with no financial backing, they pioneered a waste to energy process that took thousands of tons of waste vegetable oil destined for the Maui landfill and refined it into ASTM certified, B100 biodiesel. Narrated by Woody Harrelson, featuring Willie Nelson.
