Columbia's Ghosts of War

In the finale of "Hidden Connections: Climate Change & Child Marriage," we hear how Bristhi and Razia's families lost their homes to river erosion. Unable to sustain life in villages, as longer droughts and increased flooding made farming impossible, they moved to Dhaka looking for work. "We have six months of rain and storms and we can't work so we sit here in misery," says one of the farmers in the film.
In Dhaka, however, sexual assault is rampant and 90 percent of women who migrate to the city report being sexually harassed. We hear their stories, including how one of the film's young female subjects is molested by a male neighbor during the filming of this documentary. "Once you don't have honor, you never have it back, so to keep our honor we look to marriage," says one of the women featured in the film.
