Romanian Girls Trafficked Into Europe's Sex Industry For Generations

Maya is a 17-year-old living in a small town in rural Romania. In this film, she shares her experience being trafficked into sex work in the city by her boyfriend.

Her story is not uncommon. Due to widespread poverty in rural Romania, many young people see the sex industry as the best way to make a living. The Nightingales project, an NGO in Romania, helps young people at risk of being trafficked and supports many girls determined to have a different future.

This film explores the difficult choices that lead to trafficking of young women in Romania, through the perspective of Maya's sisters and those closest to her.
