Women's Work | Link TV
"Women's Work" tells the story of Herlinda Gonzales, a leader in her community who began weaving bags and baskets after discovering that people love crafts from all over the world. Gonzales then began recruiting local women and their families to learn how to weave and make a fair income. As the business gained traction in the community, Gonzales reached a point when she was in charge of hundreds of people. She says she did it not to be a leader, but to help the community. This film also explores the role of women in Ecuadorian rural society and in the world.
This short video was produced in collaboration with the community of Dos Mangas, Ecuador and the Asociación de Mujeres Dos Mangas. The filmmaker thanks Gonzales and her family for their participation and friendship.
